Our Philosophy

We are Little Acorn

At Little Acorn, we are inspired by Reggio-Emilia and Waldorf methodologies as we see your child as competent, curious, and creative. Our classrooms welcome art and sensory exploration, imaginative play, block-building, reading, and more. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts are introduced. Social-emotional development is woven into each experience as we learn cooperation, conflict resolution, and create a community within our classrooms. Most importantly, we encourage children to let their natural curiosity guide them. Our teachers follow their lead and create an engaging, high-interest environment where your child can thrive.

Nature-centric learning is an important piece of the Little Acorn experience. Our outdoor space is an extension of our classrooms where we climb, hunt for bugs, and get messy with mud play. Our location allows us walking access to the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, Bartlett Park, and the Chelmsford Public Library’s green spaces. Our students love exploring all that Chelmsford Center has to offer, an activity Little Acorn refers to as “Tourist in Your Town.”

This is your school, and we look forward to collabrating with each family as we create a Little Acorn community.

Our Philosophy

Little Acorn’s philosophy is based on respect for children, their cultural background, developmental level, natural curiosity and eagerness to learn. Our goal is to provide a secure and safe environment encouraging children to learn, gain self-confidence and make new friends. Children will have the opportunity to take part in activities that will stimulate and encourage intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. We wish to be friends to the children, parents, and the community.

We provide a safe environment encouraging children to learn, gain self-confidence, and to make new friends. Children have the opportunity to take part in activities that will stimulate their social, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Our goals

  • To provide an environment conducive to the creation and development of wholesome friendships.
  • To provide appropriate experiences that contribute to the overall growth of our students.
  • To provide opportunities for meaningful play based on individual needs, interests, handicaps, and abilities. We want to build our students’ foundations of skills and to instill a love for learning.

Goals for the parents and the community

To provide opportunities to meet with and work with other parents and teachers who have as their common concern the interests and needs of the children.

  • To contribute to the wholesome growth and development of the future citizens of the community.
  • To provide a setting where people of various religious and ethnic backgrounds can work together for a common interest.

Enrollment and non-discrimination

All children will be accepted for enrollment at Little Acorn providing they are two years nine months and not older than pre-kindergarten age. A brochure and application are sent or given upon request. Once the completed application is returned, children are accepted as space permits. If space is not available due to full capacity, as regulated by our license, the child will be placed on a waiting list and notified as a vacancy occurs.

Once accepted into the program, tuition is due on the first of each month. Checks are made payable to Little Acorn Preschool.

Little Acorn Preschool shall not discriminate in providing services to children and their families on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin, disability, marital status, or sexual preference.
